Chalet Balmat is a breathtaking new build, setting a new standard in alpine design for The Grand Massif. With its vintage-inspired interiors and rustic mountain charm, the chalet delivers an authentic alpine experience while offering every modern comfort. Named after the famed mountain guide Jacques Balmat, who first summited Mont Blanc in 1786, this property blends history, elegance, and adventure.
Perched 2 km above Morillon, Chalet Balmat enjoys a peaceful setting with panoramic views, just a few minutes’ drive from the ski lifts connecting you to the expansive Grand Massif domain, including Samoens, Flaine, and Sixt Fer-à-Cheval. Its location offers a serene escape, yet remains close to the village’s restaurants, cafés, and bars.

A car is essential due to the chalet’s elevated location above the village. The drive to the ski lift is around 5 minutes, and snow chains may be necessary during heavy snowfall. There is no ski bus service from the chalet.
While rare, the mountain setting means the Wi-Fi can occasionally be slower, especially during certain weather conditions or times of the year.

Chalet Balmat is perched above Morillon village, offering a peaceful and authentic mountain experience. Just under 10 minutes by car to the Telecabine de Morillon lift, it provides quick access to the renowned Grand Massif ski area, with over 275km of pistes and 139 slopes for all levels.
In summer, the region transforms into an adventure hub with hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and paragliding, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.

From November to April, we recommend a 4×4 or snow chains, as heavy snow is common. The road is ploughed regularly, but it’s a legal requirement in the French Alps to carry snow chains that fit your vehicle.

Policies
Chalet Balmat is available to rent all year round. Feel free to email or call us for more information.
Changeover Day: Typically Sunday, but we can be flexible depending on availability and time of year. Please ask.
Security Deposit: €1,000 (or £1,000), payable via bank transfer before arrival.
Payment Terms: 30% deposit at booking, with the remaining 70% due 60 days before arrival.
Pet Policy: We will consider one or two small/medium, well-behaved dogs for a €100 fee, per pet. Pets must stay out of bedrooms and off furniture, and outdoor areas should be kept clean. Pets must be declared at booking with details including age, breed, size and temperament.
