Chalet Lampisterie is a beautiful converted, former railway building, where the chugging trains oil lamps were prepared during the golden age of steam. The ‘shed’ has since been extended and renovated to a high modern standard. It is situated in the beautiful rural village of Le Buet and modern electric trains have now replaced the old steam ones, easily linking guests to all the main ski areas of the valley: Chamonix, Argentiere,Le Tour, Le Buet and Vallorcine.
This charming and cosy family home renovation provides accommodation for up to 4 guests (but a maximum of 4 adults). Chalet Lampisterie is perfect for a small group of friends, 2 couples or a small families with up to 4 children.

There are 2 bedrooms, including a romantic master bedroom with high ceilings. A beautifully designed bathroom provides opportunity for relaxing dips in a large roll-top bath with a full supply of toiletries. A further bedroom contains 4 single beds (2 principal beds, and a further 2 tucked under the sloping wooden roof beams).

Home Truths
The property is a former railway building. As such, it is located close to the train tracks. Most of our guests are completely unafected and rarely mention any noise disturbance, but do please be aware that there are between 2 - 4 trains passing by each hour (depending on the time of year).
The garden is not enclosed. Please keep an eye on dogs and young children.
Please be aware there are walking trails nearby. You may see some friendly hikers walking by during the day.
The stairs to bedroom 2 may be too steep for young children to navigate safely.
Bedroom 2 contains 2 single beds. The other beds are located on the floor with limited headspace (children only).
Please note the kitchen is not equipped with a dishwasher.
The television at the chalet only plays English TV channels (no French terrestrial channels available). We recommend that guests bring a laptop or tablet to enjoy watching films and shows, using the wi-fi.

Location
Chalet Lampisterie is located in the village of Le Buet in the Chamonix Valley. The location is perfect for small families and to enjoy an authentic mountain experience - the Poya beginner slopes are within walking distance. It takes around 20 - 30 minutes by car or train to reach the centre of Chamonix. Argentière & Vallorcine are much closer. Suitable for all levels, there is plenty of piste and off-piste to explore in this ski domain. In the summer, this area is popular for other adventure sports such as hiking, mountain biking, climbing and paragliding.

Chamonix Centre: 14km; Argentière: 9km; Geneva Airport: 98km (1hr 25); Paris: 600km (6hrs+); London: 1,000km (12hrs+)
A car is recommended at this chalet. However for some groups, or those with a scattered arrival time, you may prefer to opt for a transfer service directly from Geneva Airport, which will take you directly to the chalet.
For bookings between November – April, we always recommend that you have a 4×4 or at the very least, snow chains in your car. The main roads are regularly ploughed but it is always a good idea to arrive prepared for heavy snow conditions. if it snows heavily during the daytime. It is legal requirement in the French Alps to come equipped with snow chains that specifically fit you vehicle

Policies
Chalet Lampisterie is available to rent all year round… Email or give us a call for any further information
Changeover day for the chalet is usually a Saturday… However please ask if you’d like a different arrival day as we can sometimes be flexible
Security Deposit amount is €600 (or £600) – Payable by Bank Transfer before arrival
Rental payments can be paid in 2 instalments – a 30% deposit is required at the time of booking, the 70% balance will be due 60 days before arrival.
Maximum Guest Numbers: Maximum 4 adults or 2 adults + 4 children.
Pet Policy: We are dog-friendly and can consider (upon request) up to 1 small/medium, well behaved & house trained dogs at an extra charge of €100. We ask that all furry guests are kept out of bedrooms and prevented from climbing onto furniture. All dog litter should be removed from exterior spaces (garden, porch, patio and green spaces around the property). Pets must be declared at the time of booking, with details including age, breed, size and temperament.
